Ridgewood Moving Services CEO Cynthia Myer Elected NJ Warehousemen and Movers Association President

Ms. Myer's election marks the first time a woman has been at the helm of the moving industry trade association

MAHWAH, NJ, February 10, 2016 – In a landmark move, the New Jersey Warehousemen and Movers Association (NJWMA) has elected its first woman president: Cynthia Myer, CEO of Mahwah, NJ-based Ridgewood Moving Services. Ms. Myer, who joined NJWMA in 2007, has played an active role in the moving industry trade association, holding the positions of Recording Secretary and, most recently, Vice President, before being assuming the Presidency in January 2016. In 2008, NJWMA awarded her the Bill Moynihan Special Services Award (named after a former president of the Association), recognizing her exemplary performance and dedication as a member of the association’s Board of Directors. Her company, Ridgewood Moving Services, was named “NJWMA Mover of the Year” in 2013.

“All of us at NJWMA are extremely pleased to have Cynthia as our new president,” noted NJWMA Board Chairman Mark Quinn, founder of All Jersey Moving & Storage. “Her energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to advancing the industry and educating the moving services consumer will greatly benefit our association and our members.”

In one of her first initiatives as NJWMA President, Ms. Myer identified three pillars to serve as a focus for association activities during her term: Value-Add to Members, including community outreach and scholarship programs; Industry Resource, strengthening NJWMA’s role as a key influencer within the industry and in the legislative arena; and Industry Reputation / Branding, improving perception of the moving industry by educating the public on the value the industry and licensed moving professionals provide.

“I am honored and excited to be the first woman president in a long list of amazing men who have preceded me,” Ms. Myer said. “As a woman who entered the industry 10 years ago, I have never been made to feel anything less than a welcomed part of the team. I look forward to continuing the great efforts made by NJWMA and its Board to educate consumers and the legislators on our industry and the great services we provide as licensed moving professionals.”
