Suspicious Package Forced Rt. 202 Closure: Police

BREAKING: Police say the package turned out to be non-threatening.

MORRIS TWP, NJ — A suspicious package at the Route 202 Dunkin Donuts forced the closure of the road in both directions Thursday morning, Morris Plains Police Chief Jason Kohn said in a press release.

Police were called to the Dunkin Donuts around 7:01 a.m. to check out a "suspicious package." "Out of concern for public safety, Speedwell Avenue and surrounding roadways were closed until the contents of the package could be determined," Kohn said.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad were called to the coffee shop, and the package was found to be "non-threatening." The roadway was closed for about 45 minutes as the investigation took place, Kohn said.
