On The Run For Hedda: Fundraiser To Benefit Morristown Teen With Brain Cancer
The run is just the latest way the community has rallied around Hedda.
MORRISTOWN, NJ— Run For Hedda, taking place next Sunday, will help fundraise for a local teen with brain cancer, and is just the latest in a generous outpouring of support from the Morristown community and around the world.
Hedda is a 14 year old girl who was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer, in the summer of 2015 when she was only 12.
"After brain surgery and a 55 week radiation and chemo treatment plan, Hedda entered a brief remission only to find out weeks later that she had a recurrence of the tumor and would have to face another brain surgery and more treatments," a GoFundMe page to benefit her says.

The GoFundMe, which has raised $50,368 in just 24 days, is only one way the community has supported Hedda. Turquoise ribbons, her favorite color, have been tied on trees, mailboxes, and just about anything else that will stand still in Morris County. The bright bows have been tied as far away as Mexico and Belgium.
Even Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is on "Team Hedda," posting on Facebook that Hedda is an inspiration.

Hedda was also "adopted" by the Rutgers Newark basketball team, who invited her to team practices and held a fundraiser game for her.
This latest effort by the Morristown community, a 1.4 mile kids run or 3 mile adult run / walk will be on Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. in Central Park of Morris County, in Morris Plains. A $10 donation is suggested through a different GoFundMe page.
And, of course, runners are encouraged to wear turquoise ribbons.
