Snow Must Be Shoveled By Monday In Morristown

The code only gives residents a 12-hour leeway.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown residents have until Monday morning to shovel their snow before they could get hit with a fine, township officials said.

Usually, residents have 12 hours to clear their sidewalks after it stops snowing. The town said it will start enforcing this ordinance on Monday, March 12. Residents with corner homes must also clear crosswalks, officials said.

Town Code 13-12 reads:

Icy conditions and uncleared snow on paths, walks, driveways on multiple dwelling properties, parking lots and parking areas and other parts of the premises which are accessible to and used by persons on the premises shall be cleared within twelve (12) hours after it stops snowing.
