Solid Effort Cannot Save Morristown HS Boys Basketball From 'Senior Day' Loss
Senior James Pisciotto had a good day from three point range, scoring 18, in 64-54 loss to West Morris.
While the 12th-grade players got their due during "Senior Day" ceremonies, the Morristown High School Colonials were not able to turn that early buzz into a win on Thursday.
Forced to play from behind their entire game against Morris County Semi Final-bound West Morris Central on Feb. 17, MHS was able to bring it as close as two points. However, it was West Morris who not only won an aggressive turnover battle between the two teams, they were also able to convert them into scores. The final: West Morris over MHS, 64-54.
After a very slow start in the first quarter, Morristown was able to get themselves out of a 14-point hole in the second. The entire Colonial team rallied with some big shots to cut the deficit to four. The play of senior captain James Pisciotto, who scored the majority of his 18 points from three point range, kept the team close.

Unfortunately, West Morris labeled Pisciotto as the shooter from early on and put extra attention on him to make sure things didn’t get out of hand.
Though things got a little frustrating for West Morris which, at times, looked as if they were going to lose their lead, they managed to compose themselves on numerous occasions to ensure they stopped the bleeding. Not only did they match Morristown with excellent outside shooting of their own, they also were able to convert turnovers into points, something Morristown failed to do all night.

West Morris senior, Tom Cabarle, was hot from three point range as well, as he picked up 21 points on the night, making sure his team kept their comfortable lead. Senior James D’Angelo exhibited his ability to score from all over the court scoring 20 points of his own.
West Morris now goes on to play in the Morris County Semi Final Match up on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the County College of Morris against Mendham. Morristown will hit the road to play Parsippany Hills High School, also on Saturday.
