Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival Returns To The Green This Fall

As a way to cap off summer, the Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival will once again hit the stage this year on Sept. 17. This year's festival kicks off at noon, with James Langton's New York All-Star Big Band featuring Dan Levinson opening the show. The Festival is in its 12th year, and organizers and Mayor Tim Dougherty expect a large crowd to descend on the Green until 10 p.m.

NJ Lake Drowning Victims Identified As Brothers

An online fundraiser has been set up to cover the costs of returning the bodies of two brothers who drowned in Mine Hill on Tuesday to Guatemala. According to police, the 17-year-old and 22-year-old brothers, named Arnulfo and Jesús, were swimming with a group in Mine Hill Beach's sunset lake when they went into the water at the sand pits and never came out.

Plaque Will Honor Morristown Art Gallery Founder At Anniversary Event

The Morris County Commissioners will join the Craig family at the Atrium Gallery to unveil a plaque honoring Viki Craig, co-founder of Art in the Atrium, which is celebrating its 30th year.

Speeding Concerns Raised At Morristown Council Meeting

Two local residents expressed concern about excessive speeding on Grant Street and asked the town to install digital radar speed limit signs and speed bumps, among other preventative measures. John Madden, a teacher at Morristown High School, was the first to address the council. He expressed concern about the high rate of speeding on Grant Street, which is frequently used by students walking to and from school during the day.

Train Station, Road Improvement Grant On Morristown Council Agenda

The Morristown train station may see improvements as early as next year. The Morristown Council will meet tonight to discuss a grant application for funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation's FY23 Transit Village Program.

Morristown High School Alumna Hired At Morris Educational Foundation

The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF) announced on Tuesday the hiring of its first full-time executive director, Joelle Servais, a Morristown High School graduate with 25 years of nonprofit experience. Servais takes over for Chrissie Wetherbee, who stepped down as part-time director in October after seven years in various roles.

Morris Co. Narcotics Task Force Recognized By State Officials

The New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association (NJNEOA) recognized the Morris County Prosecutor's Special Enforcement Unit / Narcotics Task Force at their annual conference last week. Detective Supervisor Jimmy Atoche has been named the Northern New Jersey Narcotic Officer of the Year for 2022. Detective Supervisor Atoche has been an important member of the MCPO Narcotics Task Force, resulting in numerous arrests, seizures, and the dismantling of drug trafficking organizations, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

Assault Weapons, Drugs Seized From Morris County Home: Prosecutor

Authorities seized 14 firearms, more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition and 100 high-capacity magazines, LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms and Ketamine from the home of a 33-year-old Landing man, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. Erik Vandevelde, of Landing, was arrested on June 8 after authorities received information that led to the investigation of his residence, Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said.
