St. Pat's Parade Grand Marshal Named, Continues Family Honor

Morristown's John Hyland is son of 1998 Grand Marshal, report says.

John Hyland is as Morristown as they come.

So it’s only natural the county seat native has been named the 2015 Morris County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal, according to dailyrecord.com.

It doesn’t hurt that his family is no stranger to one of the county’s largest annual events.

Hyland’s mother, Kathleen, held the same post in 1998, the report said.

John Hyland isn’t new to the Parade’s committee, either, having served as treasurer for more than a decade, the report said. Hyland, who was diagnosed with acute Leukemia in 2010 and is currently in remission, has helped raise more than $1 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

While the parade won’t march on until March 14, 2015, the organization of the event is a year-round process.

The parade committee named Jeff Rawding Grand Marshal in 2014.
