Summer JazzFest 2019 at the Morris Museum

Hot Jazz for Hot Summer Nights

The Morris Museum continues to be the place to be for great jazz on those hot summer nights! This years exciting line-up features fan favorites like Dan Levinson’s annual Midsummer Night’s Jazz Party, and newcomers like the young Jersey native, Evan Sherman whose big band has been garnering praise in New York City! Celebrate Nat King Cole’s 100th birthday with Amani who honor the legacy of this musical giant with a fun and touching tribute. Get a taste of the West Village with the Grove Street Stompers who have been an fixture at the legendary Arthur’s Tavern for more than 50 years! This is a Jazzfest that is not to be missed!

One of New York City’s hottest young jazz musicians comes home to Jersey with his 16-piece big band ensemble of jazz veterans and dynamic young musicians. They have been featured at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, Ginny’s Supper Club in Harlem, Caramoor Jazz Festival and more! At only 26, Sherman has been a new proponent of traditional jazz with Evan Sherman and his Big Band which has made a major splash in New York and is in high demand! Dan Levinson returns with his Gotham SophistiCats for a musical Journey to the epicenter of Jazz in the 1920s and ‘30s with Molly Ryan, Jeff Barnhart, Mike Davis, Jim Fryer, Rob Adkins, Kevin Dorn and special guest Dandy Wellington. This party features the music of Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Ethel Waters, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, and others.

Amani: Nat King Cole at 100!

The versatile instrumentalists of Amani (which means 'peace' in Swahili) will recreate the sound of Nat King Cole whose 100th birthday is celebrated in 2019. They will share many of his hits during this celebratory evening....Amani includes Stephen Fuller – Featured Vocalist, Fred Fischer - piano and vocals, Flip Peters -guitar and vocals, Marty Eigen - Tenor Sax, Alex Grissel - bass, and Vern Mobley - Drums.

Grove Street Stompers

Come experience the Bickford debut, of the group that has been a Monday night staple at New York’s venerable Arthur’s Tavern since 1962 – over 50 years! This fabulous group’s repertoire includes samples of Dixieland, New Orleans and swing styles with tunes made famous by such greats as Bix, Louies and Jelly Roll.

And now you can enhance your evening's experience with a gourmet boxed dinner from Chef Andrew Pantano of Culinary Creations. Dine in the Museum’s elegant Court or North Gallery, or al fresco on the grounds! Choose from honey citrus poached wild salmon with smashed green bean salad ($25), chicken walnut and grape salad croissant with heirloom tomato salad ($20) and vegetable shirataki bowl with peanut lime sauce (vegetarian) ($20). Orders can be placed up to 4 days in advance of the concert and picked up between 6:00PM - 7:00PM on the day of the event. Beverages can be purchased on-site.
