SUMMER STEM INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES NEW LOCATION AND DIRECTOR

2016 Program Expands

MORRISTOWN, NJ – JANUARY 27, 2016 – As the Summer STEM Institute prepares for its second season, they are pleased to announce their new summer location and director. The 2016 program will be held at Saint Virgil Academy in Morris Plans under the directions of their new director, Coral Kennedy.

Coral Kennedy of Union, will serve as the 2016 Summer STEM Institute Director. She is a graduate of Kean University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and will be receiving her master’s degree for curriculum planning and instruction in May 2016. She is excited to introduce children to the many STEM fields and has a passion for mathematics and physics. In her free time Kennedy likes to lift weights, play golf, volunteer, and cook.

“As director I hope to operate the Summer STEM Institute in a way that inspires the students to think independently about mathematics and sciences. My wish is for all the students to experience a STEM field in an exciting way that will impact the way they think and reason,” says Kennedy when asked about her new position.

About Summer STEM Institute

Summer STEM Institute was created in 2015 after the Patriots’ Path Council, Boy Scouts of America was charged with leading the first pilot program. After a very successful inaugural summer, the program moved from their first location at the council service center in Cedar Knolls to its current location at Saint Vigil Academy in Morris Plains; just a few minutes down the road. The first grade program will remain at the council service center. The new location accommodates more participants. SSI is a program run under the Learning for Life division of the Boy Scouts of America.
