Superintendent Search: Morris School District Seeks Input
A focus group for members of the public will take place Oct. 14 at the Morristown High School auditorium.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — What would you like to see from the future Morris School District superintendent? As the Board of Education searches for a new leader, they'll seek community input on the matter.
Charlene Peterson, of the New Jersey School Boards Association, will conduct a focus group for members of the public who live in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains. The event will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Morristown High School auditorium.

Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast will step down in November and retire from New Jersey public education. Pendergrast has held the role since 2015.
Dr. Thomas Ficarra will become interim superintendent Nov. 1. Ficarra served as the district's superintendent from 2002-14. Since then, he has held interim-superintendent positions with the Hamilton Township, Madison, South Orange/Maplewood, and Bridgewater/Raritan Regional boards of education.
