Surgery Funds Secured For Sickly Morristown Therapy Horse

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A fundraising campaign has saved the life of a beloved therapy horse in Morristown.

Izzy is a horse from the Friends of Seaton Hackney, a local nonprofit that specializes in “equine-assisted therapy.” She’s been providing comfort to children and adults for years, helping riders “build confidence, strength, and trust.”

Izzy was recently diagnosed with a canker in one of her hooves, a painful condition that cannot go away on its own and can be fatal if left untreated.

Izzy has helped the Morristown community for years, and the Morristown community has returned the favor.

A GoFundMe organized by Izzy’s handlers has exceeded the amount of money needed for her surgery, ongoing veterinary care, farrier work, medication, and more recuperative care.

“Thank you guys so much for reaching out on our GoFundMe and surpassing our goals. Because of you guys, we were able to cover her emergent surgery,” Friends of Seaton Hackney representatives said. “Izzy is so important to our therapeutic program, and we can’t wait to get her back into service.”
