Suspect Arrested 13 Months After Armed Robbery at Morristown Medical Center

Charges against East Orange man lodged in May 2015; warrant executed on June 18, prosecutor reports.

The suspect seen on surveillance footage from Morristown Medical Center in May 2014, who allegedly robbed a parking garage employee at gunpoint, was arrested Thursday in East Orange, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced.

Tyhan Lighty, 43, was arrested by East Orange police on an outstanding warrant related to the incident and transferred to the Major Crimes Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Knapp said.

On May 4 of this year, charges were lodged against Lighty for robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to have weapons. He was jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

The incident occurred on May 18, 2014 just before 11 a.m. The suspect then fled the scene after taking an undisclosed amount of money.
