Teen Struck By Vehicle After Running Into Morris Plains Roadway: Cops

Officials took the boy to Morristown Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — A vehicle struck a teenage boy after he ran into the roadway Saturday night in Morris Plains, police said. Officials took the teen to Morristown Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Chief Michael Koroski.

The collision took place just after 9 p.m. Saturday on Speedwell Avenue. While the investigation remains ongoing, witness statements indicate that the boy was standing on the southbound side of Speedwell Avenue by Glenbrook Road, according to police. Then the boy ran into the road without using the crosswalk for reasons unknown, Koroski said.

A Honda Odyssey struck him while it traveled north, authorities said. The pedestrian sustained head and face injuries. Officials treated him at the crash scene before taking him to the hospital.

The driver remained at the scene after the collision and hasn't received any summonses. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.
