Top Morristown MD Offers Concierge Medicine Option to Patients
Dr. Bernard Davidoff's new program supports patients seeking more personalized healthcare with enhanced service and support
Morristown, NJ – March 4, 2015 – At a time when medical choices are becoming increasingly limited for patients and physicians, Bernard Davidoff, MD, a leading internist in Morristown for close to 40 years, is increasing options for his patients with a new concierge medical program called Hybrid Choice.
The optional concierge program is designed specifically for patients who feel they need greater advocacy, convenience and care coordination--services that are not always available in northern New Jersey’s changing healthcare marketplace. The program reflects the growing popularity of concierge medicine, which is expected to grow up to 20% annually over the next few years.[1]
Dr. Davidoff selected the unique concierge model, Hybrid Choice, developed by industry pioneer Concierge Choice Physicians (CCP), because it enabled him to provide the more time-intensive, personalized care that so many of his patients were demanding, but also allowed him to maintain his traditional practice and continue to see all his patients, including those on Medicare.

“I love and want to care for all my patients,” Dr. Davidoff says. “They are like family, so I avoided concierge programs that would limit options for patients who might not want to join. But I also needed to make sure I had a program in place that would serve the needs of my patients who really needed the advocacy and extra time that only a concierge program can offer.”
Dr. Davidoff’s Hybrid Choice program is coming at a time of significant change in Morristown’s physician marketplace. Over the past five years, many physicians have joined hospitals or large multi-specialty groups, and others have retired early in response to increasing regulations and uncertain reimbursement. Today, less than 20% of primary care physicians in New Jersey remain in private practice. Most are employees of hospital systems or in large multi-specialty medical groups.

The type of patients joining concierge programs is changing as well. While traditionally viewed as a program just for wealthy patients, the average concierge medicine patient now makes under $100,000 a year, according to industry publication Concierge Medicine Today.[2]
Most concierge members today are over 45 and want more personalized support with an emphasis on prevention and wellness. Concierge programs work well for patients with chronic or multiple health conditions. Many adult children also enroll elderly parents for the assurance and benefits of personalized care and coordination of medical services such as referrals to specialists, lab tests and hospitalization.
“Healthcare today is confusing, especially for patients with multiple illnesses or chronic health conditions such as diabetes,” said Dr. Davidoff. “Scheduling visits with multiple specialists, getting lab work and results and just navigating everything that has to be coordinated can be frustrating. Plus, patients report it is really hard to find someone to answer questions or address concerns. An important service I offer patients in the concierge program is care coordination, where I become the quarterback of care and take that burden off of patients and their families.”
Patients invest $175/month in exchange for a range of enhanced services not covered by insurance programs, including an executive-style physical that would retail for considerably more than the cost of the annual yearly fee, greater emphasis on preventive care, same-or next-day appointments, a more leisurely office visit less waiting time, and direct access to Dr. Davidoff through private phone numbers, cell phones, texts and other services. Children up to age 26 are covered under their parents’ program.
“Concierge medicine lets doctors practice medicine the way we know is best for many of our patients,” says Dr. Davidoff. “My patients are so grateful they can choose this level of care.”
