Walk the Canal from Trenton to New Brunswick
Walk 40-miles in one day from Trenton to New Brunswick along the D&R Canal. Discover the beauty around you.
Join the FreeWalkers for a 40-Mile trek on the D&R Canal towpath from Trenton to New Brunswick on Saturday April 11, 2015 for the fifth annual “Great Canal Walk”. This is the first segment of 3 walks in the coming weeks that can take you across NJ - by foot. The event is FREE and open to everyone. Walkers can participate even if they choose to walk less than the total distance and wish to walk at their own pace.
The “Great Canal Walk” follows the main canal section from downtown Trenton through Lawrenceville and Princeton, as well as the charming villages of Kingston, Griggstown, Blackwells Mills and East Millstone, ending up in New Brunswick.
The Great Canal Walk is part of the Cross-Jersey Challenge, a contest hosted by the FreeWalkers and East Coast Greenway Alliance which rewards hardy hikers that follow the East Coast Greenway through its path across NJ and is sponsored by Blue Ridge Mountain Sports and Eastern Mountain Sports. Challengers record their efforts and have until the end of the year to reach the aproximate 100-mile goal.
