Woman Accused Of Not Helping Morristown Murder Victim To Remain In Jail, Judge Rules

Casandrea West, 31, will remain in jail to await further court proceedings, a judge ruled.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A woman arrested in connection with a Morristown homicide will remain in jail, a judge ruled during her Thursday court appearance.

Casandrea West, a 31-year-old homeless woman, is one of two people charged in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Stanley M. Robinson, of Dover.

According to investigators, West was present as Robinson was "severely injured” after a physical altercation with a third party resulted in blunt force trauma to his head. He succumbed to his injuries later, authorities said.

Also being charged in connection with Robinson’s murder is Enrique “Flaco” Vega, a 33-year-old homeless man, who is also thought to have been present during the assault, authorities said.

Vega is still in custody awaiting court proceedings.

Both accused are also facing charges relating to a burglary at the Red Carpet Inn in Hanover, a day or two after Robinson’s death, according to officials.

Both West and Vega are also thought to have discovered Robinson’s suspected murderer, only identified as R.E., dead in an unoccupied Hanover residence, investigators said.

Prosecutors have yet to release the identity of R.E., but have confirmed that he was a 59-year-old homeless man “known to frequent Morris County.”

Both Robinson’s and R.E.’s deaths are still being investigated, according to prosecutors.
