Young Adult Retreat Series Offered at Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown

Time for Young Men and Women to Unplug, Pause and Reflect

Loyola Jesuit Center, a sacred space for spiritual growth, prayer and reflection located in Morristown, N.J., will be hosting its 2nd Young Adult Retreat Series for young men and women, ages 18-39. The retreats will be held over several months and are designed to help young adults develop deeper spiritual lives and stronger connections to faith communities. Loyola Jesuit Center offers these retreats in partnership with Charis Ministries, the Dioceses of Metuchen and Newark and the Jesuit Collaborative.

The first retreat in the series will be Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The theme is “Living My Paschal Mystery”. The other dates in the series are December 6, 2015, “Accepting My Good Friday”, February 7, 2016, “Holy Saturday, Waiting in Hope”, April 3, 2016, “My Easter Dawning” and the weekend of June 24-26, 2016, “Spirit at Work”. There will also be a special day of prayer for young adult married couples on November 15, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. titled “Christ Alive in Our Marriage”.

“Our peer-led retreat experiences give the gift of the “forced pause” to young men and women: time off to think, reflect, pray and see where God is working in their life at that very moment. They are rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola and invite participants to share their own lived experiences and their histories with each other through talks and small group discussions,” said Renee Owens, Director at Loyola Jesuit Center. “Our young adult retreats help form connections and community that can sustain that exploration and deepening of faith for years to come.”

Each retreat includes: talks given by other young adults about their personal journey of faith; small group faith-sharing; theological insights by priests and/or other pastoral ministers; contemporary themes, music, and media; opportunities for Liturgy, Reconciliation and Spiritual Direction; time for rest, prayer and private reflection; and time for connecting spiritually and socially with others from 18-39 years of age. All retreat materials are printed in both English and Spanish and the opening prayer and closing Mass are bilingual to serve the Spanish speaking young adults.
