11 People From 8 Towns Busted In 'Car-Cruising' N.J. Prostitution Ring

Eleven people from 8 towns were busted in a "car-cruising" New Jersey prostitution ring on Friday, police said.

Eleven people from 8 towns were busted in New Jersey prostitution ring on Friday, police said.

The prostitution detail was conducted in the northward section of Newark in response to citizen complaints that cars were cruising the neighborhood until the wee hours of the night, soliciting sex from both residents and the prostitutes that frequent the area, police said.

The following men were arrested for soliciting prostitution during last night’s operation:

  3. Robert Perez, 56 from Bloomfield
  4. Mark Vassos, 55 from Toms River
  5. James Keelen, 55 from Bloomfield
  6. Carl Robinson, 49 from Bronx
  7. Gianfrac Tipacti, 22 from Kearney
  8. Luis Rodriguez, 43, of Newark
  9. Nestor Revollar, 60, of Newark
  10. Willie Scott, 56, of Newark
  11. Chester Sterling, 22, of Newark

Many residents said it particularly disturbing "when your wife, daughter or sister is walking in the neighborhood and propositioned the neighborhood by men cruising the streets looking for sex," Newark police said.

“I won’t tolerate any behavior that denigrates the quality of life in our city or needlessly damages the city’s image. I will continue to attack crime and quality of life complaints regardless of where they occur in our city, said Director Ambrose.

This particular operation was conducted in the area of Broadway and Irving Street last night with the operation ending early this morning.
