2 Killed, 1 Wounded In Newark; Cops Searching For Shooter
Two Newark residents died in a shooting. A stray bullet hit a third victim, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for a person who fatally shot two victims and wounded another in Newark last weekend, authorities said.
The shooting took place on Saturday afternoon in the area of 45 Mercer Street, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Two men - Jasson Duffy, 30, and Hassan Ward, 30, both of Newark – died in the shooting. A stray bullet hit a third victim. She is in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that Duffy was sitting outside along with Ward when an unknown person approached the two and shot them both,” prosecutors said.
An investigation is ongoing. As of Monday morning, no arrests have been made, authorities said.
