2 Men Rob Victim At Bus Stop In Newark; Police Search Continues

The men stole the victim's phones and credit cards, then fled the scene in a car driven by a third suspect, Newark police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for two men who robbed a victim at a local bus stop last week, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the robbery took place on the 80-block of 16th Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. on May 20.

“The victim was at a bus stop when two men got out of a white, 2017 Infiniti Q70, on Littleton Avenue. They approached the victim, demanding that he give up his personal belongings. The victim complied and turned over his bookbag containing two cell phones, debit and credit cards, and other personal items. The suspects fled in the four-door Infiniti, which was driven by another unknown suspect traveling eastbound on 16th Avenue.”

The driver was observed outside of the vehicle on the 400-block of Central Avenue on May 28. The vehicle has also been seen in the area of Avon Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard, police noted.

Police said the vehicle, owned by SaJadah May Hodge, had a temporary license plate (C070959) and was captured on surveillance video returning to the 100-block of 7th Street. Hodge is wanted for questioning, and the vehicle has been flagged as a felony vehicle.

Authorities released surveillance photos of the suspects and vehicle (see below).

Police said the first suspect is a male with a medium build, who was wearing black clothing, a yellow traffic vest and a face mask.

Police said the second suspect is a male with a heavy build, who was wearing a black hoodie, tan pants and a face mask.
