2 Newark Students Recognized As Leaders: St. Vincent Academy, East Side High School

The two Newark residents are both interning at local Boys & Girls Clubs.

NEWARK, NJ — Bank of America HAS announced that two Newark residents were among five high school juniors and seniors from the New Jersey community selected to its “Student Leaders” program.

According to a news release, the program offers “young, engaged community citizens” an opportunity to build their workforce and leadership skills through a paid summer internship at a local nonprofit organization.

The five New Jersey “Student Leaders” are:

  • Aishah Choudhary, a Newark resident, and rising senior at St. Vincent Academy, is interning at the Boys & Girls Club of Union
  • Natalie De Rosa, a Newark resident, and rising senior at East Side High School, is interning at the Boys & Girls Club of Ironbound
  • Miguel Colon, a Vineland resident, and a recent graduate of St. Augustine Prep, is interning at the Boys & Girls Club of Vineland
  • Willietta Gombeh, a New Brunswick resident, and rising senior at New Brunswick High School, is interning at the Boys & Girls Club of Perth Amboy
  • Carlos Polanco, a Clifton resident, and rising senior at Clifton High School, is interning at the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton

“Early employment opportunities are a critical stepping stone for young people entering the working world,” Bank of America stated in a news release. “When young people can’t access early employment opportunities that build their skills, they are at risk of being left behind and not finding a meaningful job in today’s competitive workforce.”
