2 People Shot In Irvington, 1 Dies; Police Probe Continues

Two people were shot in Irvington on Sunday evening, with one victim later dying from his injuries, authorities said.

IRVINGTON, NJ — Two people were shot in Irvington on Sunday evening, with one victim later dying from his injuries, authorities said.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to the 200-block of Isabella Avenue at 9:22 p.m. after getting a report about a shooting. Officers found three men outside: two had gunshot wounds, and another had an injured leg.

The men were transported to University Hospital in Newark, where one of the victims – Damian Thompson, 27, of Irvington – was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m.

The other two victims were treated for non-fatal injuries, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
