The accident happened on the Hackensack River Bridge on Route 3, just past Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus, shortly after 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to CBS2.
An 84-year-old woman from Cherry Hill was behind the wheel of a Dodge Neon and was traveling east in the westbound lanes when she crashed head-on into a BMW, according to the report.

Secaucus Police Chief Kevin Flaherty said they are investigating. “We called the husband and he didn’t seem to have a clue why she was in the area,” Flaherty told 1010 WINS’ Glenn Schuck.
The woman was taken to Hackensack Medical Center in critical condition, while the other driver was listed in stable condition, according to the reports.

The road was closed as emergency crews tended the scene and delays stretched back onto Route 495. All lanes were reopened around 10:40 a.m., according to the reports and state transportation officials.
