20-Year-Old Dies In Newark Shooting; Police Investigation Continues

No arrests have been made as of Thursday, Essex County prosecutors said.

NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting claimed the life of a 20-year-old man in Newark on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, police in Newark responded to the 100-block of Irvine Turner Boulevard at 6:53 p.m. after getting a report about a shooting.

The officers found Nasir Dudley, 20, of Newark, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:43 p.m., authorities said.

No arrests have been made as of Thursday, prosecutors said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
