ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Voters in Newark went to the polls to take part in the annual school board election on Tuesday.

Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A total of 11 candidates competed for three open seats on the Newark Board of Education.

With 92.49 percent of districts reported, Kanileah Anderson, Louis Maisonave Jr. and David Daughety are at the front of the pack. Each ran together on the Moving Newark Schools Forward slate.

Here are the uncertified totals, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office (check back for updates):

  • Kanileah Anderson – 2,674 votes (22.11%)
  • Louis Maisonave Jr. – 2,248 votes (18.59%)
  • David Daughety – 2,290 votes (18.94%)
  • Nathanael Barthelemy – 780 votes (6.45%)
  • Ade’Kamil Kelly – 955 votes (7.90%)
  • Shana Melius – 764 votes (6.32%)
  • DeWayne Bush – 189 votes (1.56%)
  • Jordy Nivar – 367 votes (3.03%)
  • Yolanda Johnson – 650 votes (5.38%)
  • Latoya Jackson – 626 votes (5.18%)
  • Elaine Asyah Aquil – 550 votes (4.55%)
