21-Year-Old Man Dies In Newark Double Shooting: Police

A double shooting in Newark claimed the life of a 21-year-old man. No arrests have been made, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — A double shooting in Newark claimed the life of a 21-year-old man on Monday evening. Another victim is hospitalized in stable condition, authorities said.

Detrick Mitchell, 21, of Newark, was shot on the 100-block of Clinton Avenue at 6:53 p.m. Emergency responders rushed him to Rutgers University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:34 p.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Police Department.

A second victim was also shot. She was hospitalized and is in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made, authorities said Tuesday.
