3 Shot In Newark, Including Child; Adult Victim Dies, Police Say

An East Orange resident died in a shooting in Newark. Two other victims were wounded: a 6-year-old child and a 24-year-old woman.

NEWARK, NJ — Three people were hit by gunfire in Newark on Monday night, including a young child. One of the victims – an adult from East Orange – was killed, authorities said.

The triple shooting took place around 10 p.m. on the 300-block of Clinton Avenue, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Newark police arrived at the scene to find three people suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims – Victor Roberts, 28, of East Orange – was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m.

The other two victims, a 24-year-old woman and a 6-year-old child, were treated for their injuries, authorities said.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, authorities said.
