NJ Drug, Gun Bust: 41 Arrested, 194 Bags Of Heroin Seized

​Forty-one people from throughout New Jersey were arrested this week in a major drugs and weapons bust, according to authorities.

Forty-one people from throughout New Jersey were arrested this week in a major drugs and weapons bust, according to authorities. Police recovered three handguns and confiscated 194 decks of heroin, 216 vials of cocaine and 118 plastic bags of marijuana during the four-day narcotics bust in Newark that ended on Monday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

The narcotics confiscated have a street value of $5,530, and the amount of cash confiscated as proceeds of drug sales is $2,367.45, according to authorities. Gun arrests were made at Pennington and Broad streets; at Springfield and Fairmount avenues and at Bright Court near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, all in Newark.

In a statement, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose commended all involved in this operation. “I applaud the officers’ hard work during this operation along with the arrest of three armed suspects without the officers firing their weapons,” he said.

  • Kevin L. Wiley, 24, of Newark was arrested for failure to make lawful disposition and possession of drug paraphernalia.
