5 Masked Men Accused Of Robbing Newark Business At Gunpoint

The men stormed into a Newark business and demanded cash. They made their escape – but not before injuring a victim, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for five men who allegedly robbed a local business at gunpoint, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the robbery took place on Feb. 15. Here’s what happened, authorities said:

“At approximately 3:10 p.m., police responded to a business on the 900-block of 18th Avenue after getting a call about an armed robbery. A group of five males wearing masks and armed with handguns entered the establishment demanding cash. One victim was placed face-down with a gun to the back of his head as one of the suspects went through his pockets. A second victim was held at gunpoint in the lobby of the building, and an employee was struck with a handgun by one of the suspects … The suspects fled, heading westbound on 18th Avenue, with cash and stolen personal property.”

The injured victim was transported to University Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition, authorities said.
