Abeigon Re-Elected As President Of Newark Teachers Union
John Abeigon said he's grateful for his peers' confidence as the union heads into next year's contract negotiations.

NEWARK, NJ — John Abeigon was recently re-elected to his post as president of the Newark Teachers Union (NTU). Abeigon’s new, two-year term officially begins in June.
Michael Iovino was re-elected as secretary treasurer, and the following NTU members were elected to two-year terms as vice presidents:

- Cristina Balboa-Camacho (McKinley School)
- Chris Canik (Newark Vocational High School)
- Ronnie Carney (Arts High School)
- Timothy Carr (Avon Avenue School)
- Cassandra Chapman-Talmadge (Ridge Street Elementary School)
- John Cunha (Ridge Street Elementary School)
- Mark Donetz (Barringer High School)
- Josephine Donnellan (Elliott Street Elementary School)
- Kristyn Faison (Oliver Street School)
- Joicki Floyd (Peshine Avenue School)
- Love Gallard (Newark Vocational High School)

“I am humbled and grateful for the support of the membership of the Newark Teachers Union for their confidence in our team as we head into next year’s contract negotiations,” Abeigon said.

“Next year is going to be historic, and everyone can expect to see some positive changes in Newark during this term,” Abeigon added.
“Through his years in leadership at the NTU, John Abeigon has demonstrated his love and commitment to the city of Newark, the traditional public school system, their students and his members,” American Federation of Teachers President Donna Chiera said.
