Acclaimed Author, Pulitzer Prize Winner To Speak At Newark Library
In Newark: Robert Caro will deliver a free, public lecture about the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 and President Johnson's use of power.

NEWARK, NJ — A two-time Pulitzer Prize winner is coming to speak at the Newark Public Library as part of the Philip Roth Lecture Series from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28.
Robert Caro was personally selected by Roth to deliver the free, public lecture, which will focus on the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 and President Lyndon Johnson’s use of presidential power.

According to library staff, Caro has been awarded “virtually every literary prize,” including two Pulitzer Prizes in Biography, three National Book Critics Circle Awards and two National Book Awards, one for Lifetime Achievement. In 2010, President Obama awarded Caro the National Humanities Medal.
“It is an extraordinary honor to have Mr. Caro, one of America’s finest biographers, deliver a lecture at the Newark Public Library, which has its own rich history,” said Newark Public Library Director Jeffrey Trzeciak.
