ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An Essex County man who sexually assaulted a child has been sentenced to four decades in prison, authorities announced earlier this week.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Javier Freire-Ramos, 42, of Newark, abused the child multiple times – starting when the victim was 11-years-old. The abuse took place between May 2021 and February 2022.
In November 2025, an Essex County jury convicted Freire-Ramos on two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Freire-Ramos was sentenced to 40 years in prison this week. He must serve 26 years of the 40-year sentence before he is eligible for parole, prosecutors said.
