Woman Dies In Fatal Fire In Newark, 2 Other People Injured

A fire killed a woman and injured two other people in Essex County.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ -- A fire killed a woman and injured two other people in Essex County on Saturday, authorities say.

The fire took place at 282 Schley Street in Newark around 3 a.m., according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

The victim was pronounced deceased at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. Her identify has not been released.

Two other people were injured and are in critical condition, authorities said.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation. No additional details were immediately available.
