NEWARK, NJ — A community event will take place in Newark to remember lives lost to violence on Friday, July 3.
The event will take from 6 to 8 p.m. at 264 Bergen Street. It will include a candle lighting ceremony, time for reflection, and tributes to loved ones. The event will also include a libation from Bashir Muhammad Ptah Akinyele, a local teacher who has lost several students to violence over the years.
“Together, we will remember their names, celebrate their lives and stand united against violence,” organizers said.
