NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested nearly two dozen people accused of violent crimes and illegal weapon possession during a fugitive sweep last month, authorities announced Wednesday.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said that June's sweep was aimed at reducing violence in local neighborhoods.

Police said the list of arrestees and charges includes:
- Raja Forte, 35, of Newark, was arrested on June 2, 2026. He was wanted for unlawful possession of a weapon (rifle), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, simple assault, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
- Rome Cruz, 26, of Newark, was arrested on June 10, 2026. He had been sought on charges of aggravated assault (shooting), unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of prohibited weapons (hollow point ammunition), criminal mischief, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
- Akim Fairley, 35, of Newark, was arrested on June 5, 2026. He faces charges of burglary, aggravated assault, and simple assault.
- Jamil Oliver, 35, of Newark, was arrested on June 5, 2026. He was being sought on a charge of aggravated assault.
- Richard Camacho, 40, of Newark, was arrested on June 8, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and violation of a restraining order.
- Quamir Crawford, 18, of Newark, was arrested on June 11, 2026. He had been sought on charges of three counts of aggravated assault (shooting), three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of prohibited weapons (large-capacity magazine).
- Quadree Arrington, 26, of Newark, was arrested on June 15, 2026. He was wanted on charges of two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
- Ronesha Henry, 33, of Westampton, NJ, was arrested on June 17, 2026. She was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and harassment.
- Darian J. Mitchell, 31, Newark, was arrested on June 18, 2026. He was wanted on a charge of aggravated assault.
- Natequah Polk, 32, of Newark, was arrested on June 19, 2026. She was being sought on charges of robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
- Jose R. Soares, 45, of Newark, was arrested on June 22, 2026. He faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and stalking.
- Andy R. Melendez, 33, of Newark, was arrested on June 23, 2026. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and an outstanding warrant out of Middlesex County.
- Romell Wright, 31, of Newark, was arrested on June 23, 2026. He was wanted on a charge of robbery.
- Shane K. Rodriguez, 28, of Newark, was arrested on June 25, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, three counts of simple assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
- Lewis Ling, 29, of Newark, was arrested on June 25, 2026. He was being sought on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault.
- Dekwan Holmes, 23, of Irvington, was arrested on June 25, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of prohibited weapons (large-capacity magazine).
- Stephon Ford, 34, of Newark, was arrested on June 26, 2026. He was being sought on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault.
- Shaquil Upshaw, 31, of Newark, was arrested on June 26, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
- Anthony D. Pierce, 37, of Newark, was arrested on June 29, 2026. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
- Annette Reyes, 37, of Newark, was arrested on June 30, 2026. She was being sought on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
