ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Newark police have released video footage of an argument that ended with a man hurling a flowerpot at another man's face earlier this month.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the victim said he was in the lobby of his apartment building at 9:47 p.m. on Aug. 1 when the assailant entered from the rear entrance on the 500-block of Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard.
The building concierge questioned the suspect, who became irate, picked up a flowerpot and threatened to throw it at the victim, police said.
A second employee – the building's engineer – tried to speak with the man, but he would not calm down, police said.
The suspect threw the flowerpot, hitting the victim in the face. Then he fled the scene, authorities said.
The injured man was taken to University Hospital for treatment of a cut on his chin and a broken tooth.
