NEWARK, NJ — A mix of rain and cloudy skies is expected this week in Newark as the first day of fall arrives.
The summer will officially bid Newark adieu when the first day of astronomical fall begins on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The equinox will happen at 8:05 p.m.
The Old Farmer's Almanac Fall Forecast is predicting cooler and wetter conditions than usual in the Northeast parts of the U.S. this year.
Here's what is in store for Newark this week, according to the National Weather Service:
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72. North wind 10 to 14 mph.
Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph.
Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Northeast wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Northeast wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Northeast wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.
Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64.
Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54.
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.
Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.
