ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A driver died in a fatal crash in Newark on Saturday night, authorities say.
The one-vehicle crash took place around 9:11 p.m. near McCarter Highway and exit 5 (Chester Avenue).
Officers arrived to find the vehicle overturned, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
The driver was ejected during the crash and was trapped underneath the car. He was pronounced deceased at 9:37 p.m.
A police investigation into the crash continues. No additional details were immediately available, including the identity of the deceased man.
