Fernandez, who was reported missing after last being seen near Central Avenue and Washington Street, has now been safely located. Police originally shared a detailed description of the Newark girl's appearance and school uniform, and urged residents to use the city's Crime Stoppers tip line and website to share any information.

Hackensack man busted after woman beaten outside Newark apartment (shorenewsnetwork.com) β A Newark woman was attacked outside her Leslie Street apartment after being followed home from a late-night bus stop, and police say a 41-year-old Hackensack man has now been arrested. Officials report she fought back and screamed, driving him off, and detectives later charged him with aggravated assault and criminal trespass while stressing he remains presumed innocent.

Scotch Plains Priest at Center of Archbishop Fulton Sheen Relic Pilgrimage in Newark (TAPinto.net) β Pilgrims recently flocked to Newark's Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart to venerate a vestment worn by Blessed Fulton J. Sheen during a 1977 Mass in the city. Guided by former Scotch Plains priest Father Matthew Gonzalez, about 2,000 visitors came over two weeks, reflecting on Sheen's legacy and the Church's call to combine deep prayer with active service in the world.

Nico Hischier scores milestone goal, leads Devils past Canucks (statenews.net) β A big afternoon at the Prudential Center in Newark saw the New Jersey Devils snap a two-game skid with a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks, powered by Nico Hischier's 200th career goal and two power-play tallies. Goalie Jake Allen also marked his 500th career game, giving local fans a milestone-filled home victory.
