NEWARK, NJ — A class action lawsuit is alleging that hundreds of workers at a large company in Newark were abused by supervisors, threatened with deportation for speaking up, and abruptly laid off shortly before new state job protections took effect.
The lawsuit names meal kit company HelloFresh and three other businesses – Action Staffing Group, On Target Staffing LLC, and ProStaff Solutions Inc. – which supplied temporary workers to the facility, News 12 New Jersey reported Wednesday.
The lawsuit was filed in August 2024. A state judge is scheduled to review the amended complaint this week.
HelloFresh denied the allegations in a statement to News 12 New Jersey. Spokespeople said an internal investigation found the claims to be without merit.
