Anonymous Tip Leads to Arrest in South Ward Killing
Farad Green charged with first degree murder of Latisha Brown
A Newark man has been charged with the murder of Latisha Brown, who was in the city's South Ward, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced.
Farad Green, 33, is charged with first degree murder and weapons offenses after being arrested Tuesday night in Iselin. Acting Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio said anonymous information led to the arrest of Green, who allegedly shot Brown, 26, of East Orange, at 199 Peshine Ave. last week. The relationship between Green and Brown is unclear.
Newark's Fugitive Apprehension Team and Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force, along with authorities from the U.S. Marshals and Federal Bureau of Investigation, launched an investigation shortly after Brown's death.

"Working every lead, police finally caught a break when they learned the name of the suspect wanted for this horrific crime," said DeMaio. "He was tracked down and captured (Tuesday) night. Because of the hard work and dedication of the men and woman of every agency involved in this investigation, we were able to apprehend the suspect responsible for the death of this young woman.
"I would like to thank each and every one of these officers for their commitment to seeing this crime solved," DeMaio added.
