Armed Carjacking In Newark; Vehicle Found In Irvington: Police

Newark police continue to search for a pair of men who carjacked two people at gunpoint, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police continue to search for a pair of men who carjacked two people at gunpoint on Sunday night, authorities said.

The Newark Department of Public Safety released the following statement about the carjacking, which took place at 9:08 p.m. on the 80-block of Green Street:

“The victims were sitting in a 2008 Nissan Altima when two males, armed with handguns, approached the vehicle. One of the males opened the driver’s door and demanded that she get out of the vehicle and give up her belongings. The driver and a passenger complied as the suspects entered the vehicle and drove away eastbound on Green Street. An hour later, detectives investigating the incident recovered the vehicle at 21st Street and Madison Avenue in Irvington.”

Authorities said the first suspect has a slim build, and was wearing a black hoodie, light-colored jeans and a black ski mask. The second suspect also has a slim build, and was wearing a white and black varsity jacket with a white line across the front.
