Armed Essex County Man Found Blocking Traffic On New Year’s: Cops
Essex County police arrested an armed Newark man on New Year's Day after finding him unconscious in his BMW, which was blocking traffic.

NEWARK, NJ — Essex County police arrested an armed Newark man on New Year’s Day after finding him unconscious in his BMW, which was blocking traffic, authorities said.
According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, officers found Nasser Jacobs, 45, “in an unresponsive condition” in the driver’s seat of his 2003 BMW sedan shortly after 12:30 a.m. The car – which was running and had engaged brake lights - was blocking traffic at the intersection of Summer and Bloomfield avenues, police said.
Officers found a loaded, 10 mm Smith & Wesson handgun in Jacobs’ waistband, police said.

Authorities charged Jacobs with the unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Police also issued Jacobs motor vehicle summonses for delaying traffic, obstructing traffic, failure to product insurance papers, failure to wear a seatbelt and inoperable windshield wipers.
