Armed Robbery At Gas Station In Newark, Cops Search For Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — A masked man wearing New York Jets gloves recently robbed a gas station in Newark at gunpoint, authorities announced Thursday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the robbery took place around 12:40 a.m. on Dec. 27 at the Exxon Gas Station at 1425 McCarter Highway.

Police said that a man entered the gas station’s mini-mart and pointed a handgun at the clerk. He forced the worker to open the store’s safe and cash register, then fled eastbound on 3rd Avenue and McCarter Highway towards Passaic Street.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect (see below). He is 6 feet 1 inch and 195 pounds, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a face mask, green New York Jets gloves and black Nike Air sneakers.
