Attempted Carjacking At Newark Gas Station Involved Stolen Vehicle: PD

NPD: Police are searching for suspects who attempted a carjacking at a Newark gas station using a vehicle stolen from East Orange.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for suspects who tried to carjack a Mercedes Benz at a local gas station using a car stolen from East Orange, authorities said.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the attempted carjacking took place at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday at the Mobil gas station at Frelinghuysen Avenue and Meeker Avenue.

The suspects arrived at the scene in a car stolen from East Orange – a black 2020 BMW series 330 with tinted windows and alloy rims, bearing New Jersey license plate “B54PEK” – which they used to travel to Newark, police said (see photos above).

Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website.
