NEWARK, NJ — When the rain starts pouring down in Newark, it’s a good time to take note of some flood-prone roads, officials say.

Newark public safety officials released the following list of local roadways that should be avoided due to potential flooding:

“The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions and other weather-related incidents through the combined use of police, fire and Office of Emergency Management personnel,” Newark officials stated.

“Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse and building materials,” Newark officials added. “For fire safety, please utilize flashlights, instead of candles, should you lose electricity due to this weather event.”
