Avoid These Roads If Flooding Hits Newark, Officials Say
Newark public safety officials are warning drivers to avoid flood-prone streets ahead of a stormy weather forecast.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark public safety officials are again warning local drivers to avoid several flood-prone streets ahead of a stormy weather forecast.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said Essex County could be hit with as much as 2 to 4 inches of rain early this week. The NWS issued a flash flood watch for Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Union counties from 8 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Tuesday. Read More: Flash Flood Watch Issued For Essex County (See Timeline)
On Monday, the Newark Public Safety Department repeated a call that it has made in the past during other forecasts of severe storms: stay away from flooded roads.
