Bergen-Lyons-Clinton Partnership to Host “Meet and Greet” for Stakeholders

An opportunity for people who live, work, invest and worship in the South Ward to learn about the SID and contribute to its efforts.

The board members and professional staff of the Bergen-Lyons-Clinton Partnership (BLCSID) will host a “Meet & Greet” reception for residents, business and property owners and other South Ward stakeholders on Tuesday, February 21st from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. John’s Community Baptist Church, 1066 Bergen Street, between Lyons & Lehigh Avenues. Light refreshments will be served.

The gathering will follow the monthly meeting of the Partnership’s board of directors, and provides an opportunity for people who live, work, invest and worship in the South Ward to learn about the special improvement district, meet board representatives and other local stakeholders, contribute ideas and identify local needs and priorities.

Known locally as the South Ward SID, the BLCSID (Bergen Street between Lyons and Clinton Avenues and both of those streets to the Irvington border) was established to help the area compete, improve and sustain commercial viability. The SID is a public/private partnership between the City of Newark, local business and commercial property owners and residents focused on generating economic activity and community development.

“In 2016, we launched an aggressive streetscape maintenance program that is transforming vacant lots and properties in need of extra attention, hosted workshops for small business owners and entrepreneurs and community meetings regarding the Bergen Street Redevelopment Plan,” noted Executive Director Ronice Bruce. “As we start the New Year, we hope the “Meet & Greet” will bring together local stakeholders who share our commitment to making the South Ward the ward of choice in Newark for people looking to purchase a home, open or expand a business, join a faith community, access quality healthcare or invest in our district.”

RSVP’s are requested from individuals interested in attending the event. Please call 973-851-3496 or email southwardsid@gmail.com.
