Bloomfield Police Crash In Newark While Chasing Stolen Vehicle
An early morning chase ended with two crashes involving police cars – and with the driver of a stolen vehicle escaping, authorities said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An early morning chase in Essex County ended with two crashes involving police cars – and with the driver of a stolen vehicle escaping, authorities said Monday.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, its officers became involved in a chase with a black BMW X5 around 1:30 a.m. The driver eluded police, who pursued the vehicle through Bloomfield into the City of Newark, eventually losing the suspect after two separate crashes.
One vehicle collided with a building near Grove Street and South Orange Avenue, and another crashed into a tree. A civilian vehicle was also struck at the intersection, reports say.

Three police officers and a civilian suffered minor injuries in the collisions, authorities said.
The stolen BMW fled after the crashes, Bloomfield police said. An investigation continues; no additional information was immediately available.
