Bodies Of Woman, Man Recovered From Passaic River In NJ

Two bodies were recovered from the Passaic River this week in North Jersey, Newark authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — Two dead bodies were recovered from the Passaic River this week in North Jersey, authorities say.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, emergency responders arrived at Clay Street at 4:19 p.m. on Tuesday after getting a call about a body in the river. Newark firefighters recovered a woman’s body from the water using two Zodiac boats. She was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m.

A second body was found near Bridge Street and McCarter Highway around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Newark firefighters, members of the Newark Police Emergency Services Unit and Kearny police recovered a man’s body, which drifted northbound due to the river’s current. The man was pronounced dead at 6:28 p.m.

Authorities said both incidents are under investigation. No additional information was available.
